Ferric Carboxymaltose Injection | I-CARB-FC 1K

I‑CARB‑FC 1K is an injectable iron therapy. Its Formulation consists of ferric carboxymaltose. This injection is administered through intravenous iron complex and can provide rapid repletion of iron in patients with iron deficiency anaemia (IDA)-especially where oral iron has been ineffective or intolerable. It has a stable carbohydrate shell that allows large doses to be administered in a short time, encouraging haemoglobin synthesis and improving clinical outcomes.

Indications for Ferric Carboxymaltose Injection

Ferric Carboxymaltose Injection is mainly indicated for:

In adults and children above 1 year, this injection is used to treat iron deficiency conditions like anaemia,

Sometimes, for the iron deficiency, which has nothing to do with anaemia, and in conditions like kidney disease, heart conditions.

Mechanism of action

The delivery of iron directly to the reticuloendothelial system, where the iron is generated and is transported throughout the body.  The released Iron then gets bound to ferritin and transferrin. The Transferrin transports it to the bone marrow, where red blood cells are produced.

Dosages and administration

The dosages of Ferric Carboxymaltose Injection must be prescribed by a doctor or healthcare provider and must follow their advice to avoid any unwanted conditions. Some of the recommended dosages are:

  • For adults, the recommended dose is 750mg twice a day or 1000 mg once a day, depending on the condition
  • For children aged above 1, the recommended dose

Administration

The injection is given directly into the veins by a doctor or nurse
