Moxifloxacin is a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone with excellent activity against a large number of gram-positive and gram-negative ocular pathogens. Moxifloxacin (0.5%):

  • Putting pressure on mechanisms of bacterial replication results in a rapid bactericidal effect and leads to infection resolution.

Prednisolone (1%):

  • We know prednisolone binds to glucocorticoid receptors and inhibits inflammatory mediators, including other prostaglandins and cytokines.
  • Suppresses any specific immune response from the eye involved in inflammation (including pain).
