HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE 200 MG TABLETS

Arichlor-200 is a medication widely used in conditions of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. It is manufactured by Arlak Biotech and is the brand name for Hydroxychloroquine 200 mg tablets. The working of this tablet is based on slowing down the progression of the disease and reducing the pain, swelling and redness of the patient. Another use of this tablet is to control glycemia in type 2 diabetes. This medicine should be taken with food. And must be consumed as prescribed by the doctors. It also shows some common side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain. Consult your doctor if the symptoms persist. 

Indication for its use 

Here are some of the conditions under which these tablets can be used : 

• Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
• Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)
• Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA)

Mechanism of Action

The mechanism of action of Arichlor-200 is based on immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory pathways:

• It accumulates inside lysosomes of immune cells, increasing their pH and interfering with antigen processing.
• This action reduces T-cell activation and decreases the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, thereby lowering inflammation.
• As an antimalarial, it interferes with the digestion of haemoglobin in the malaria parasite, leading to parasite death.

Dosage and Administration 

The dosage of the medicine must be as prescribed by the doctors. The normal recommended dosages are : 

In case of Rheumatoid Arthritis / Lupus: the dose for adults is nearly 200-400 mg daily 

In case of malaria, the dosages vary depending of the severity and the prescription of the physician. For preventing malaria, the dosages are taken weekly starting 1-2 weeks before going to an area having a high risk of it.
