Description
OXOISM-NT is a dual-action anti-infective tablet made from Ofloxacin, which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, and Nitazoxanide, an antimicrobial that is an antiprotozoal and antiviral. It is a unique formulation intended to treat mixed infections of the intestines and digestive system, especially if both bacteria and protozoa are present. Therefore, it is indicated for the effective treatment of a variety of conditions that cause diarrhoea, gastroenteritis, and other intestinal infections caused by pathogenic organisms.
Indications For Its Use
Ofloxacin 200 Mg & Nitazoxanide 500 Mg Tablets is indicated for
- It is used for the treatment of infectious diarrhea caused by Cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia lamblia in patients 1 year of age and older.
- It is also useful for treating certain kinds of bacterial infections (ear infections, urinary tract infections) it shows better effects in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B.
- Acute infectious diarrhoea
- Traveller’s diarrhoea
- Mixed bacterial and protozoal infections
- Giardiasis
- Amoebiasis

Mechanism Of Action
OFLOXACIN: Ofloxacin is a ʻquinoloneʼ antibiotic used for treating certain kinds of bacterial infections (ear infections, urinary tract infections) and is also useful in pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). It belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics. Ofloxacin stops the multiplication of bacteria by inhibiting the reproduction and repair of their genetic material (DNA).
NITAZOXANIDE: This Suspension is used for the treatment of infectious diarrhea due to certain intestinal parasitic infections (i.e., Cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia lamblia). Nitazoxanide, also known by the brand name Alinia, is a synthetic nitrothiazolyl-salicylamide derivative and an antiprotozoal agent.
Dosage and Administration
The Dosage should be taken as recommended by the healthcare provider or doctor and must be followed as recommended. Some of the common dose recommendations are
- For adults, it is recommended to take two tablets daily
- It can be taken after the meal with a full glass of water
